PEA is one of the latest supplements found to have many uses in the body. It is produced by the body naturally when we encounter pain and inflammation but when the pain and inflammation is too much the body needs to be helped out a PEA supplementation.

Uses for PEA are:

  • Mild to moderate knee pain.
  • Chronic afor rthritis such as in lower back pain
  • Sciatica
  • shingles pain
  • depression
  • Parkinson's disease

Effective doseage ranges are: 10 to 30mg/kg of body weight /day. Based on clinical trials PEA needs to be taken for 8 to 12 weeks. However, doseage is very much individualised. There are different formulations around from PEA on its own to being linked with Lipisperse technology to help it absorb better. I have personally tried PEA on its own which seemed to get better results than brands with Lipisperse technology. There is now also a formulation with PEA plus Cucurmin in the marketplace. I will be testing this out and will keep you posted.

The beauty of PEA is there are no known drug interactions though I would still suggest taking it 2 hours away from any pharmaceuticals you may be taking for pain, inflammation etc.
