Osteoarthritis can be very painful and as a result can cause anxiety, sleeplessness and nerve pain. There are an array of herbs that can be used to combat this pain and its side effects. Besides pain relief herbs can improve circulation to the joint plus warm the joint.
Herbs
1. Cucurmin or turmeric that very yellow herb that is used as a spice in Indian cooking. It reduces pain and stiffness in joints and thus improves physical movement. It comes in a herbal liquid or as tablets or capsules.
2. PEA - found in palm oil this product can reduce pain and anxiety, the latter often accompanying pain. It comes in a powder or capsules.
3. A mix of kava, passionflower and Californian poppy this mix helps witth a lack of sleep, anxiety and depression from the pain, with the poppy giving relief from mild nerve pain such as sciatica.
4. Other useful herbs are celery seed for circulation, Devil's Claw and Boswellia as anti-inflammatoriesand ginger for warming

1. Magnesium, calcium and Vit D3 may be needed to prevent osteoarthritis progression.
2. Fish oils - Containing EPA and DHA are anti-inflammatory
3. Glucosamine - Decreases pain and stiffness of arthritis particularly in knees.
4. Zinc - Zinc is essential for bone and cartilage formation.
5. Vitamin C - A high intake of Vitamin C is associated with less damage to cartilage.
