Professor Singh from Sydney University has led a study on the subject. She has found that to keep the brain sharp in the 60-80 year old bracket, when mild cognitive impairment can begin, weights and aerobic work are beneficial. Benefits were seen in ability to plan, organise and devise strategies after doing 6 months of weight training.Improvements were still seen 12 months after the study was completed.
